Even if you're the first occupant of the property, you never can be sure how many copies of your keys exist. We typically charge a fee to re-key each individual lock. We do a lot of work for apartment complexes and investors with rental property.

We recently had a complaint from a client that wanted all of his locks keyed alike, he was quoted a price and we scheduled him with one of our locksmiths. Although his home was "NEW" the storm door locks were not compatible with his door locks. His contractor simply didn't know much about lock hardware and ordered the wrong locks. The guy didn't think he should have to buy new locks. One thing to remember, we are NOT magicians.  If the locks are not compatible, other than replacing the non compatible locks, there is not much we can do.
